Why would a store keep RECALLED childrens clothes on display?

I went to a store yesterday and was looking on the childrens clearance racks. Since kids clothes are so expensive, I try to find bargains whereever I can. I found a dress for $3.00, and two pairs of pants one for $5.00 and one for $4.50. When I went to checkout, one pair of pants rang up "UNABLE TO SELL". The cashier didn't know what that meant and asked an assistant manager. All that woman would say is "We can't sell them." and offered no explanation as to why not. This manager always seems to be in a ticked off mood when I go in there, so I just didn't think she wanted to be bothered with a customer, so I asked for the store manager. This woman came over and said they couldn't sell me the pants because there was a manufactuers recall. These pants didn't have small parts that would break off and choke a kid, so I don't know why there would have been a recall. If they were recalled, why on earth would there still be an entire rack on display for people to buy? This is so ignorant. If something has been recalled, take it off the shelf. Don't let people waste their time picking something out, taking it to the front, and then tell them it is recalled. If the computer knew it was recalled, someone in the store should have known as well.

  1. might not be fire-resistant. either way, the store needs to send them back.
  2. yeah that sounds like they were to damn lazy to take the time to take the pants of the rack....how anoying!
  3. have no idea why they would do that, I think its ridiculous. I bought a baby teether recently, when I was back at the store a couple of days later in the same area I bought the teether, there was a recall sign right next to the same row of baby teethers that I had bought previously. I was so angry! There were still many left for sale with the recall sign hanging right beside them. I was glad I hadn't opened the package it was in yet.
  4. Since they're recalled and aren't allowed to sell, I would assume they would just take them off the rack. They don't have toys sitting out with recall signs. I've never been to a store like that, but wouldn't go back.
  5. sometimes people look at an item, and do not put it back where it belongs, and meantime, they remove the rest of them and scan to make sure, then a few days or even a week, someone else grabs cant find anymore and puts on clearance, it was a mistake, we are human it happens, good thing they scanned for extra precautions, for whatever reason they were recalled, most likely a child was injured, or maybe more then one, i don't care what a deal it is, i would not want to take the risk with my child's life, don't be so hard on the store and employees, they are human and watching out for the safety of children
